The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an online threat targeting Weeki Wachee High School.
Deputies said that 911 dispatchers received numerous calls beginning around 9:25 p.m. Tuesday night from people reporting a threat on social media that a possible school shooting would occur in Weeki Wachee on Wednesday.
They found that a student made a similar threat on Monday at the high school. After investigating, authorities determined the student made the comment out of anger with no intention or ability to carry out the threat.
Investigators have found no credible evidence to substantiate the latest reports there would be a school shooting at Weeki Wachee High School on Wednesday.
The school district is not planning to alter any schedule due to the possible threat, and deputies will be monitoring developments.
