Missing Couple Found Dead in Vehicle at Truck Stop in Hammond, Louisiana

The man and woman, believed to have been kidnapped from Baton Rouge, were found inside a pickup truck behind a truck stop late Monday, police said.

The discovery was spurred by a wellness check Baton Rouge police conducted a short time earlier at a home in the capital city, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a BRPD spokesman.

Officers were called to the home in the 5000 block of Highland Road about 10:15 p.m. and found it open and a truck missing. Two people were also missing from the home, McKneely said.

Police used OnStar to track the vehicle to the Petro truck stop at 2100 SW Railroad Ave. about 11 p.m. and found the victims inside the truck, said Lt. Vince Giannoble, a spokesman for the Hammond Police Department.

The man and woman have not been identified.

Details about how the victims died were not immediately available, pending an autopsy.

Baton Rouge police are handling the investigation.
